Start this academic year 2021/22 the right way and join Newcastle University Fell Walking Society (Lovingly NUFWS). We offer a range of walks and experiences from Scotland to Wales, from Day walks to our ever famous week long EOTY (End Of Year Trip), all you need is a pair of boots, a rucksack for your lunch and some waterproofs, we can help with the rest.
In the past year we have been on beach walks and hill walks around Northumbria. Then as lockdown eased we headed out to the lakes on a day walk and the EOYT in May and June giving our members a break from the city. We covered the Coniston fells, Hartsop and St Sunday crag among others, spent a day on Lake Windermere kayaking, swam in Coniston water at our lake side private campsite and then had the long awaited NUFWS ball.
President Fiona is a trained mountain leader and the rest of the committee undertake training at the beginning of the year to make sure you’re in good hands in navigation, handling emergencies on the mountain and of course making sure you have a great day on the mountain no matter the weather.
Still not sold? Check out our video showcasing our EOYT, and come to see us at the freshers fair, we have plenty of fantastic adventures lined up!
